The pictures below you can get a view of the refueling probe and its location on the Vulcan. note the small tabs on the top and bottom of the probe. those are locking tabs. when in contact with the fueling fixture from the tanker the tabs are depressed, this in turn allows the sleeve, or rounded end of the probe to open. once attached to the supply fitting and open, air to air refueling can begin. this takes place at a rate of 4,000 pounds per minute.
